Storage Wars New York Review : The Good The Bad The Ugly

Happy New Year!

All that glitters is not gold, or perhaps only worth a nickel but we do have some new storage auction  TV fanfare. The Storage Wars franchise is in the Big Apple and with gusto!  I was busy working on a piece so I missed the premier but thanks to the modern miracle we call the internet, I was able to quickly come up to speed.  Some things surprised me and others were like, your daddy’s shoes in the closet. always there. The show is what it is. I did not expect any rapid detours from the first rendition, but there are some new wrinkles in the fabric of their methods of bamboozlement.

I watched the show with a set of new eyes, over the years I have written or  made videos about all the shows, but I am different and I need to raise my game. The producers of the show, have also raised their game, but not in the way I was expecting. They have hit on a winning formula,  old head auctioneer, a few real bidders ( confirmed by my  network of peeps) and some T & A also know  just as ” ass” . All members of the first crew have New York counter parts except Jarrold Schultz, with the fact that Brandi Passente have more Twitter Followers and Facebook Fan page fans than any two of the other characters combined,  some smart cookie (the producer)  thought maybe two Brandi’s would be better than one, so sorry  New Your Jarrod , your ass got left out in the cold.

Expect more of this “casting ”  in the future franchises of Storage Wars, yes you can bet money there will be more. I almost expect to see a reformed stripper get in the game and bring her pole to the auctions. The storage auction chicks are going to get younger, firmer and prettier ( that move did not save Storage Wars Texas) the damage was done.

One things I found odd is taking a cab to an auction, that is money to go look and see! Yikes!  I hope they are keeping up with all of those business expenses.  The ease that they got around on the streets of the busiest city in the world. I visited NYC several times, it is not like you  can do shit last-minute and expect to be on time.  I actually do get the subway action, it is one of the fastest ways to get around. I have several students and peeps in NYC, the read is most auctions do not have high attendence because it is a bitch to get around the city. I think that is about to change, like a mofo. Whilst auction attendance around the country is holding steady or declining, expect a ramp up in  New York.

I watched two episodes and I see how this is going to go. Fashion shows in the aisles s of the storage facility?  With an attractive woman in a tight dress with nice legs.. strutting in heels…..hmmm. The “Legend” walking on the side-walk, with a kid holding a ball giving the Don  his storage auction props and two dudes who act more like husband and wife than business partners. Not least but last the ” Hustler” who is selling ice to Eskimos and sand at the beach. This show will have so much drama,  TNT may have to take notes. The Fakery aside, this franchise will be better and land higher rating than the Texas side-show. There were more than a few “ass” shots, so expect more, for all you Brandy fans, those are for you!

I always thought New York would be a gold mine, because it is one of the most populated  468 square miles in the world. I looked at the things I was pulling out of units here int he south. I can only dream of the finds that happen in New York. I think storage is a necessity because of the small square feet layouts of many new developments floor plans.  I was appalled to see a 1000 square foot condo going for $1.8 million. In my neighborhood that is almost a full featured mansion. So there is money to be pulled from those units, it just takes time.

I was not impressed with the girls or the show. If you are going to do T&A you can do better than those girls…
